Training in the SiSi Model

LETCEE provides training in the SiSi model to Organizations who would like to implement a home and family based Early Chilhood Intervention (ECI) programme. Training includes introducing management and the community to the ethos of the model, working with communities, committee training, home and family based ECD practitioner training as well as buddy and toy librarian training. Training of Buddies

LETCEE's child-to-child (Buddy) programmes have proved to be very successful and thus LETCEE has developed a training and support programme which can be replicated in other communities. The focus of this programme is self development as well as assisting these children and youth to discover the roles that they play within the programme and the community at large. Training for Toy Librarians

This training is specifically tailored to meet the needs of each unique Toy Library. Sessions include training on the value of play, maximizing the use of toys and games and administration of a Toy Library (accessioning and maintaining records). LETCEE also advises those managing Toy Libraries regarding the selection of toys for the Toy Library. How to make educational toys and resources

The emphasis of this training is on using recycled materials at a low cost to make educational toys and resources that can be used both in the ECD site and in the home. The training is once again tailored to meet the needs of the specific sites or communities of the trainees participating in the course. Training for School Governing Bodies (SGB's)

In this training School Governing Bodies or SGB's are assisted to register the site with the Department of Social Development. They also receive training which will help them to ensure that the ECD site is sustainable.
